AI Genie Design System

Design Systems | UI Design

Capco, a global technology and management consultancy specializing in driving digital innovation in financial services, is positioning itself as a leading competitor in the AI development space. Our products were powerful but lacked impactful UI and brand consistency—making it harder to sell the vision.

To support that ambition, I built Capco’s first in-house design system. It empowered engineers to create on-brand, cohesive experiences, strengthened the sales narrative, and elevated our AI products to visually reflect the innovation behind them.

With no existing design system at Capco, my first step was research. I studied industry best practices, explored case studies, and pulled inspiration from leading design systems.

From there, I started small—defining foundational elements like color, typography, and spacing. These basics gave us a consistent visual language to build on. To operationalize them, I set up variables and tokens in Figma, creating a shared source of truth that both designers and engineers could rely on.

Once the foundations were in place, I expanded into reusable components and interface patterns. Buttons, form fields, navigation elements—each was carefully designed, documented, and aligned with our brand guidelines.

Collaboration with engineers was key. I ensured the system was easy to adopt, providing clear guidance and practical documentation. Instead of slowing teams down, the design system became a way to speed up development while raising the bar on quality.

The design system transformed how we worked:

  • Engineers could build polished, on-brand experiences without waiting for design support.

  • Sales teams had consistent, high-quality demos that built trust with customers.

  • The design team could shift focus from patching inconsistencies to shaping strategy.

Most importantly, our products finally looked as innovative as the technology behind them.
